Instructions for Authors
Instructions for Authors
The Journal of Human-Centered Research (JHCR) welcomes high-quality original research articles, review papers, case studies, system design and implementation papers, empirical evaluation studies, methodological papers, short communications, policy papers, and interdisciplinary research papers. Authors are requested to carefully follow the instructions below before submitting their manuscripts.
1. Scope of Submission
JHCR publishes research related to human-centered artificial intelligence, digital health, smart care, human-computer interaction, trustworthy technology, privacy-preserving systems, smart living environments, educational technologies, data science, AI ethics, digital transformation, and social innovation. Manuscripts should clearly demonstrate relevance to human needs, dignity, safety, accessibility, well-being, trust, inclusiveness, and quality of life.
2. Originality of Manuscript
Manuscripts submitted to JHCR must be original and must not have been previously published or be under consideration for publication elsewhere. Submission of the same manuscript to more than one journal at the same time is considered unethical publishing behavior and is not acceptable.
The major criteria for acceptance include originality, significance, technical quality, relevance to the journal scope, clarity of presentation, ethical compliance, and contribution to human-centered technology research.
3. Conference, Workshop, and Symposium Papers
Manuscripts based on earlier conference, workshop, or symposium papers may be considered only when they have been substantially revised, expanded, and improved. The revised manuscript must represent a new and original contribution beyond the earlier version.
4. Manuscript Preparation
Authors should prepare the manuscript according to the required journal format. The manuscript should be written clearly and should include all essential scholarly components.
- Title of the paper
- Full names of all authors
- Author affiliations and complete addresses
- Email address of each author
- Corresponding author details
- Abstract
- Keywords
- Main body of the manuscript
- Figures and tables with proper captions
- Conclusion
- Acknowledgement, if applicable

5. Manuscript Length
Manuscripts should normally be between 8 and 20 pages. Authors should ensure that the manuscript is concise, well-structured, and complete. Additional page charges may apply as per the journal’s publication fee policy.
6. Figures, Tables, and Supplementary Materials
Figures and tables should be clearly prepared, properly numbered, and cited in the manuscript text. Authors should ensure that all images, diagrams, charts, tables, and supplementary materials are of sufficient quality for online publication. Permission must be obtained for any third-party copyrighted material.
7. Peer Review and Editorial Decision
Submitted manuscripts undergo initial editorial screening. Manuscripts that meet the journal’s scope and quality requirements are sent for peer review. The reviewers evaluate originality, relevance, methodology, ethical soundness, technical quality, presentation, and contribution to human-centered research.
Based on the reviewer reports and editorial evaluation, a manuscript may be accepted, returned for minor revision, returned for major revision, or rejected.
8. Final Manuscript and Proof Correction
After acceptance, authors may be required to submit the final version of the manuscript in the prescribed format. The corresponding author is responsible for checking the final proof carefully and returning corrections within the given time. After final approval, no major changes in authorship, order of authors, or manuscript content will normally be permitted.
9. Author Responsibilities
- Ensure that the submitted manuscript is original.
- Ensure that all sources are properly cited.
- Disclose conflicts of interest and funding sources.
- Obtain ethical approval where required.
- Obtain permission for copyrighted third-party materials.
- Respond to reviewer and editorial comments professionally.

10. Language of Publication
The Journal of Human-Centered Research publishes manuscripts in English and Korean. Authors should ensure that the submitted manuscript is clear, grammatically correct, and suitable for scholarly communication.
11. Access Policy
JHCR provides open access to published articles to support wider dissemination of scholarly research. Readers may access published content through the journal website without subscription barriers.
